WORSHIP AND THE ARTS
Christ Church Lubbock would love to enroll singers, musicians, Eucharistic ministers, and acolytes to assist us in blended worship, based on Matthew 13:52, And he said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.”
Christ Church is a liturgical church with contemporary elements. The thought behind ritualized worship is explained very well in this video: https://youtu.be/M5R2m221wMw
The Daily Office of the Anglican Church is a system of devotions, that is, Bible lessons and prayers, which assist us in spiritual formation. It can be used individually but also in families and small groups.
Christ Church recommends morning and evening prayer. The schedule of Scripture lessons each day can be found here.
As a new start-up church this is the most important goal we have right now. Growth occurs through small groups. We are currently seeking small group leaders for a teaching ministry based on THE SPIRITUAL PATH by Father Michael. This book is based on the Biblical vision for personal growth in grace. Other studies easily spin off from that initial guidance in spiritual formation as each group operates with relative autonomy.
Home-based small groups are the most effective means of discipleship. Jesus himself started with a small group. Such groups are dedicated to personal spiritual formation, including basic Christian friendship to each other. That means members of the various groups would love one another, pray for one another, walk together, and serve one another in practical ways when any has an urgent need. Each group sets their own schedule for study and social activities. Group leaders are a key link to the professional staff at church, ensuring pastoral care for all of God’s flock.
If you would like to join a small group or start one, host one in your home or become a leader, please, call Father Michael at (325) 574-9934.
But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:14)
As our church grows we will need those that feel called to work with children.
Christ Church, Lubbock, has a very strict child safety policy, which requires background checks for anyone who works with children.
As the church grows we will need helpers to work with the youth. Young people need to be challenged to accept the word of God as their rule of life.
Christ Church, Lubbock, has a very strict student safety policy, which requires background checks for anyone who works with minors.
BREAD OF LIFE MINISTRIES
Jesus said, No one can live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).
Eventually, we will want volunteers with the gift of mercy.
